(2024)Objective
Mechanical thrombectomy (EVT) versus medical treatment alone in acute ischemic stroke related to distal arterial occlusion.
Study Summary
• The study was stopped early due to preliminary results disfavoring mechanical thrombectomy and safety concerns. • EVT was associated with worse outcomes.• Stent retrievers may not be the best technique though.
Intervention
Endovascular therapy (EVT) versus medical treatment alone.
Inclusion Criteria
Acute ischemic stroke, NIHSS > 5 or significant aphasia, MEVO (distal M2, M3, A1, A2, A3, P1, P2, P3), <6 hours or within 24 hours if no signal on FLAIR.
